America saw the longest ‘shutdown’ during Donald Trump’s first term. The same situation has arisen during Trump’s second term. There is a fear of a deadlock again in America. Four US congressional leaders may meet with Trump on Monday to find a solution, according to US media outlet Bloomberg.
If the budget or any emergency funding bill is not passed in the US Congress, the government in America declares a ‘shutdown’. Which means that the government will stop funding all government departments except for essential services (defense, aviation, social security, and immigration). As a result, many services will be closed. Government employees will stop working.
To avoid this situation, Democratic leaders are scheduled to meet with Trump at the White House. Democratic leaders Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries were scheduled to meet with Trump last week. But it was canceled at the last minute. Both Schumer and Jeffries said they would try to avoid a shutdown. “We’ve been saying from the beginning that we’ll go to any place called for talks,” they said.
Democrats demand that the health sector provide more solutions to ordinary people, especially low-income citizens. Subsidies should also be renewed. But the Trump administration is not willing to do so. The US President has also stated that a solution can be found only if the Democrats back down from their demands. Otherwise, nothing will happen even if the meeting is held.
